Demolition Drive Clears Eight Illegal Colonies in Gurugram’s Sohna

Gurugram: In a decisive move, the District Town and Country Planning (DTCP) department executed a demolition drive in Gurugram’s Sohna block, targeting eight illegal colonies sprawling over approximately 19 acres, as revealed by officials on Thursday.

Led by the district town planner (enforcement) and his team, the operation primarily targeted unauthorized developments in Ghamroj, Bhondsi, and Mahendrawada villages, undertaken without requisite permissions from the concerned authorities.

During the rigorous drive, four illicit colonies in Bhondsi village were razed to the ground, covering an area of eight acres. The demolition included the dismantling of 20 Damp Proof Courses (DPCs), 10 boundary walls, one factory, four under-construction houses, and a network of 600 meters of roads.

Additionally, the enforcement team eradicated plinths, road networks, boundary walls, and a burgeoning structure in Ghamroj, occupying approximately three acres.

The crackdown extended to Mahendrawada village, where two colonies spread across four acres met a similar fate. The operation was conducted under tight security, with a considerable deployment of police personnel to avert any potential untoward incidents.
